Check what a new rate could cost →The end of a fixed rate is easy to miss
Your payment stays the same during a fixed deal, so the end date can creep up without you noticing. Here's why it's worth knowing in advance.
Your rate usually changes
If you don't arrange a new deal, you'll automatically move onto your lender's reversion rate, often its standard variable rate. This is normally higher than the rate you've been paying.
You can plan ahead
A mortgage offer is usually valid for 3 to 6 months, so you can often arrange a new deal before your current one ends and have it start straight away.
You have options
You can switch to a new deal with your current lender (a product transfer) or move to a different lender. Having time to compare means you can choose what suits you.

What you can expect from us
Common questions
Is the reminder service really free?
Yes. Setting up a reminder is free, and there's no obligation to do anything when you hear from us. We simply email you before your deal ends so you have time to look at your options.
Where do I find my deal end date?
It's usually on your mortgage offer, your annual mortgage statement or your lender's app or online account. If you're not sure of the exact month, choose your best estimate. You can reply to any of our emails to change it.
When should I start looking for a new deal?
Many people start around six months before their deal ends. A mortgage offer is usually valid for 3 to 6 months, so you can often secure a new rate in advance and have it start as soon as your current deal finishes.
Do I have to remortgage through Mortgage Owl?
No. The reminder is simply a nudge so the date doesn't pass you by. You're free to speak to your own lender, a mortgage broker or anyone you choose.
What will you do with my details?
We use them to send your reminders and, if you've asked, to contact you about your mortgage. We only pass them to an FCA-authorised adviser if you tick the optional box. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I cancel my reminder?
Just reply "unsubscribe" to any of our emails, or email contact@mortgageowl.co.uk, and we won't contact you again.
